Pantene Celebrates Beautiful Character

Pantene, the shampoo company is rolling a new ad campaign which we can really get behind.  Honoring the fact that women athletes are competing en masse in the 2012 Olympics, Pantene is starting up an ad campaign around these strong and healthy – women. Sure it’s advertising, but let’s hope that these truly amazing women serve to inspire the next generation into acts of greatness – on the Olympic stage or not.

The eleven athlete ambassadors for the “Healthy is the New Beautiful” campaign include 12-time USA medalist and swimmer Natalie Coughlin, Argentine tennis star Gisela Dulko, Russian rhythmic gymnast and gold medal Olympian Evgeniya Kanaeva, Chinese 3-time Olympic gold medalist and diver Wu Minxia, and 9-time world champion and “Cycling’s Golden Girl,” Victoria Pendleton from Great Britain.

With the London 2012 Olympic Games being considered the first “social games,” the athletes have been able to connect with millions of fans online to inspire them. Following the completion of the Olympic Games on August 12th, 2012, fans will still have an opportunity to be encouraged by these amazing athletes to lead more active and healthy lifestyles.

Natalie Coughlin picked up her twelth Olympic medal this year as part of the U.S. team. She commented, ““Being a role model for young women is one of my greatest passions, and as a part of Pantene’s beauty campaign I am able to share the message that healthy is the new beautiful. I want to serve as inspiration for future generations of female athletes.”  Already a nine time World Champion, British track beauty Victoria Pendleton, who picked up her first gold medal in Beijing in 2008, is ready to make a more lasting impression on her fans. She also stated, “As this is my last Olympic Games, I am so proud to have been a part of this landmark year for female athletes.”
