Your Questions About The Mother-daughter Book Club

Lisa asks…

Can you help me create a name for a blog about books?

I am passionate about children and young adult books and would like to start a blog about books and book clubs for that age group. As a volunteer, I oversee the book clubs at the local elementary school and am the coordinator for and member of a couple of mother-daughter book clubs. I attend children and young adult literature seminars. My blog would include recommended book lists (and links to the books), helpful tips for book clubs and books/book club information, in general. I need a creative, fun, catchy name! Thanks for your help

Donald asks…

Where do the mother/daughter in Joy Luck Club sit around the table? REALLY NEED HELP!!!!?

I need to know where the mother and their daughters sit in the maj john (or whatever its called) table. Do they sit in the North, East, South, or West area?

I can’t find it anywhere in the book, its supposed to be in the first section of the book.

richmama answers:

I just returned this book to the library.
Suyuan Woo (and then her daughter Jing-Mei Woo) sits at the Eastern side. (In response to the previous answerer – while the novel is based on truth, it is not an autobiography. Amy Tan is not in the story.)
I forget who else sat where, but it was near the end of the first chapter (Jing-Mei Woo: The Joy Luck Club), it’s mentioned just before Jing-Mei sits at the mahjong table with her mother’s friends.
Hope this helps.

Linda asks…

Is my mom going too far? What do I do?

She’s part of this book club with mothers, daughters, & their friends. Anyways she has thrown aside my dad to pursue a relationship with Edward or Jacob from Twilight, she is so obsessed she is considering divorcing my poor dad. She makes out with a cardboard cut out of edward & has a blow up doll looking like jacob. It’s totally creepy & gross when she fantasizes.

I’m a girl but I hate twilight, & not part of my mom’s book club or twihard orgy. I prefer reading other stories & movies. Anyways my dad is crying in the corner & getting drunk because his wife no longe loves him. What do I do?

richmama answers:

….Wow…..

As someone else said, I think you have it backwards.
It sounds to me like your dad may have an alchahol problem. You’re mother can’t stand it and goes to bookclub. She gets obsessed with Twilight only because she can’t love your father anymore because he’s not himself when he;s drunk. Think of it…

Your mom may have a mental illness… I fogot what it’s called, but it’s when you either believe things that obviously aren’t true… And when you love something that is obvioiusly fake….

What you should od is talk to both of them, your Momma and your Dad.

If that doesn’t work…
Burn her books. You might get grownded, but it’ll help her obsession. It’ll help your parent’s marriage.

Good luck, hon.
